Frequently Asked Questions
Your Questions, Answered with Care
Whether you’re new to Reiki, curious about nutrition coaching, or wondering what to expect from a massage or breathwork session, we’ve got you covered. Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about my services, helping you feel confident and informed as you begin your wellness journey.
Reiki
How does the treatment work virtually?
Believe it or not, distance Reiki healing has been around for over 100 years. Reiki is "the energy of the universe" and therefore is in us and all around us. It transcends time and space and you do not need to be in the same physical location as the other individual for it to be effective. Reiki flows from the practitioner to the client whether on screen or in person.
What can I expect from a Reiki session?
Regardless of a session being online or in person it typically starts out with some conversation to discuss any concerns and/or the reason why you're seeking treatment. I then encourage my clients to lay down and get comfortable, under a blanket if they choose. Clients remain fully clothed for Reiki sessions. Some relaxing music is played during the session and in person I will usually use a cloth to cover the eyes and encourage further relaxation and connection with the treatment. At times, I incorporate crystals and essential oils depending on the client's preference. You will feel my hands touching your body lightly or hovering over specific areas throughout the treatment. When virtual, my hands are still encouraging the flow of Reiki energy.
Is Reiki painful? What sensations can I expect?
Reiki is not painful or invasive at all. Some practitioners do not even physically come into contact with the client at all during a session. Most clients are very relaxed and some may fall asleep during a treatment.
Each person's response and reaction to Reiki is unique to them, however you can expect to feel some of the following sensations throughout your body or specific areas: heat, tingling, pulsing, lightness or nothing at all.
Some clients have emotional releases during a session as well. All of the above are completely normal.
Is Reiki covered by insurance?
Reiki is just starting to be recognized by some insurance companies. If clients come in for a physical session at the clinic, they may be eligible for an insurance receipt as I'm a Registered Massage Therapist in Ontario and also do some Massage techniques during the session to further relaxation.
Breathwork
What can I expect from a Breathwork Session?
Whether in person or online, the session with start out with a conversation. I explain to the client what to expect and how to perform the type of breath for the session.
We chat about any concerns that you may have and why you've chosen to seek out Breathwork at this time in your life.
During the session, you will remain fully clothed laying down in a comfortable position, sometimes under a blanket if that works for you. Sessions last about an hour total with 25-30 minutes of active breathing and a 10-15 minute rest period at the end.
Do I have to hold my breath during the session?
No. This type of Pranayama Breathing style does not include any breath holds. You will be breathing in and out of your mouth the entire time.
What sensations can I expect to feel during a session?
This is very individual, however there are some common sensations and feelings that can arise during a Breathwork session. A lot of people feel tingling, prickling in their extremities or around their mouth.
A feeling of heat or cold is also common. Some muscle tightness in the hands especially can happen during the active breathing part of the session.
Psychologically, you may have emotions come up that are being moved through the body with the breath. A lot of people who experience Breathwork can feel very relaxed, zen and tranquil afterward.
There really is no right or wrong answer to this question. Everything that can and may come up is normal, and unique to your personal experience.
How often should I do Breathwork?
It's really up to the individual and what they are working through at the moment. Some people like to practice Breathwork a couple times a week or a couple times a month. Your intuition will guide you to what's appropriate for you.
Registered Massage Therapy
Do you provide an insurance receipt for massage?
Yes. I am a Registered Massage Therapist licensed to practice in Ontario and am able to provide insurance receipts for treatment received.
Where do you practice?
I am located in Aurora, Ontario. If you wish to schedule an appointment please contact me and I can direct you on how to schedule online.
What can massage therapy be helpful for?
RMT can be helpful for a variety of concerns. Whether you have acute or chronic pain, an injury, accident or fall, are active in sports or exercise, are pregnant or postpartum, feel stressed or are struggling with your emotions, a medical condition or to improve your overall well-being, Massage Therapy can have a positive impact.
I've never had massage therapy before, what can I expect?
Coming in for a treatment, you can expect to fill out a health history form prior to the appointment.
RMTs typically conduct an assessment and have a conversation with you to gather information about any concerns that may have brought you in for an appointment. You are instructed on how to get on the table and are welcome to undress to your level of comfort and depending on the areas that are to be treated.
There are sheets and blankets on the table so you will not be exposed, other than the areas that are being worked on. The RMT will leave the room for you to get on the table, they will go wash their hands and knock prior to returning into the room.
Communication is essential during the treatment to ensure the client is comfortable with the treatment being provided.
Once the massage treatment is over, the client will get dressed and the RMT will return to check in on them and provide any home care or rehab exercises deemed necessary for that individual.

Some people would like to know what to eat, or help with portion control, others want to increase their muscle mass or gain weight. There are many ways a Nutrition Coach can help you, no matter your goal.
Do I have to commit to a contract?
No. I personally don't do contracts with my clients in regards to Nutrition Coaching. I have worked with clients for a year or more and others for a handful of weeks. It really depends on the individual needs and goals of the client.
How can I expect to be supported?
Weekly virtual meetings, texts and emails are the main ways I like to stay in touch with my clients. Most of which have weekly or bi-weekly virtual follow ups and check-ins via text or email in between. I am here to link arms and encourage you along your journey in the way that best suits you.
Do you provide meal plans?
